Vida arranges appointment of respected journalist Steve Liebmann as Ambassador for The Heart Research Institute
|
Having already brought former Iron Man Champion Guy Leech on board as an Ambassador for The Heart Research Institute, Vida searched further for a non-sporting identity to join the Team… someone who’d had a personal experience with heart problems and therefore understood the vital importance of the Institute’s ongoing research.
Steve Liebmann has been one of Australia's most respected journalists and television and radio broadcasters for more than four decades. In December 2004, Steve suffered a heart attack. He had stents inserted to stop his arteries from clogging and resolved to change his life.
"I was very lucky. I had a warning and survived it," he said. "I’m now playing tennis three times a week and on the days I don't play tennis I walk four or five kilometres… and these days I don't get up until about 5.45am - which is a sleep-in for me! Life is good."
Steve was happy to become and Ambassador to help raise awareness of and funds for The Heart Research Institute. He will front the 2011 Christmas Appeal currently being prepared by Vida.
