New Vida client teaches High School English via online game

Victorian based Grammatikus has appointed Vida to launch its new online educational resource to teachers and parents.

It’s been a long time since Australian High School students have been taught ‘proper English’ – most recently, a whole generation has been brought up on the short cuts involved with sending SMS text messages. But with the advent of the new Australian National Curriculum, good grammar is back in fashion and Grammatikus is fully aligned with the new curriculum.

Designed by teachers, for teachers, Grammatikus is a collaborative learning platform and an innovative digital approach to the delivery of English grammar and literacy. Students learn while having fun playing the central characters in an online game that immerses them in a virtual world of mystery and adventure. It offers a safe, ‘text book free’ learning environment that features full-bodied, animated and customisable avatars.

Initially aimed at helping students in Years 7 & 8, the program will soon be rolled out to cover all of High School. Courses include video tutorials; online exercises; tests; and student aptitude and progress reports. In a trial earlier this year, Grammatikus was proven to improve literacy standards by up to 300%, enhance student confidence and considerably improve their sense of achievement.

Vida is creating an acquisition campaign to High Schools in conjunction with a publicity campaign to education publications and the general press, both timed to coincide with the launch of the new Australian National Curriculum in Term IV.
